Design editor

THE SUN
(San Bernardino, Calif.)
INLAND VALLEY DAILY BULLETIN (Ontario, Calif.)

Gina has been at The Sun since March 2003. Hired as a news page designer/copy editor there, Gina regularly designed and proofread pages, edited copy and wrote headlines. But it was her outside-the-box design style on the Local and Business section covers that caught the attention of her editors, and she soon became The Sun's primary front-page and special-projects designer.

In September 2006, Gina's talent and dedication earned her a promotion to Design Editor of The Sun and Inland Valley Daily Bulletin. In addition to her regular duties, Gina also co-authored Girls With Glasses, an Inland Living magazine column and blog, for about a year.

Earlier this year, Gina helped implement a redesign throughout the Los Angeles Newspaper Group affiliates, including the Los Angeles Daily News, the Daily Breeze (Torrance, Calif.), the Press-Telegram (Long Beach, Calif.), the San Gabriel Valley Tribune (West Covina, Calif.), the Pasadena Star-News, the Whittier Daily News, the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin (Ontario, Calif.) The Sun (San Bernardino, Calif.) and the Redlands Daily Facts.

Gina has been integral to the planning stages of three copy desk merging/relocations in recent years, continually identifying production efficiencies that could be achieved without sacrificing quality, and actually improving it in many cases.
