Special project: book

Written by my grandmother, this 145-page book contains her recollections of her ancestors, tracing backwards several generations. I edited her words, re-arranged them somewhat, and integrated her "tangents" into miniature sidebars that inject detail into images and other sections of her own words as well. She had already commissioned the artistry of my mother, who came up with the idea of using gold leaves to highlight the portion of the family tree branches she sketched to mark the chapters in our family's history. I suggested the addition of as many photographs as she could get her hands on, and I reworked them into quality images that help put faces on the many names she introduces to her readers along the way.
I also oversaw publication of the book, seeking out several self-publishing outlets, obtaining bids, and verifying technical aspects. The first editions published through Blurb in August. More are expected later in the year, published via Houchen Bindery.
